Infineon TRAVEO T2G-C Series MCUs for Automotive Graphics Application

Dec 28 2023

Infineon launches TRAVEOTM T2G-C series automotive microcontrollers (MCUs). Its new graphics engine uses intelligent rendering technology to bring outstanding performance to automotive graphics applications.

This Infineon Microcontroller can provide MPU-like performance for automotive graphics applications. Based on its compact and space-saving features, it is helpful to simplify the integration of the OEM and reduce the BOM cost. The applications include advanced smart mobile instrument clusters and head-up display systems for automobiles, motorcycles, and off-highway mobility vehicles, as well as industrial and medical applications where quality and safety are important.

Infineon TRAVEO T2G-C series system microcontroller is equipped with a dedicated graphics accelerator, which can help create instrument clusters, vehicle infotainment, and cockpit systems with microcontroller performance at the cost of an MCU. This series of MCUs uses innovative cache processing technology based on Infineon's patents, requiring only 10% of the cache size of traditional frame cache solutions, reducing power consumption, memory requirements, and BOM costs.

In addition, this device can achieve extremely fast startup time when paired with the processor in the smart cockpit. The MCU's built-in graphics engine can reduce the memory required for graphics processing by 3 to 5 times, thereby reducing power consumption and cost. Benefiting its optimized 2.5D graphics engine, it can support fully virtual dashboards with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080.

The T2G-C series MCU has an LPDDR4 interface that can display complex 3D scenes, giving designers greater freedom in designing modern human-machine interfaces (HMI). Package options are available from 500-pin BGA to 144-pin LQFP. CAN-FD, LIN, Gigabit Ethernet, and CXPI are available as embedded peripherals. A JPEG decoder, video input and output, and two serial memory interfaces (SPI or xSPI) round out the product portfolio.
