STMicroelectronics released the newest 1350V STPOWER IH2 series IGBT which is ideal for induction cooking applications. This series has been developed using an advanced proprietary trench gate field-stop structure (TGFS), whose performance is optimized both in conduction and switching losses for soft commutation. It features a freewheeling diode with a low drop forward voltage.

These ST IGBTs improves power conversion efficiency with higher breakdown voltage, lower VCE(sat), lower thermal resistance, and an extended maximum junction temperature of 175°C to ensure higher reliability and ruggedness with suitable margin under all operating conditions.
In addition, the voltage drop of the freewheeling diode is very low, and the turn-off power is optimized, allowing the single-switch quasi-resonant converter with an operating frequency of 16kHz to 60kHz to have higher energy efficiency.
Thanks to its good resistance to variability and energy efficiency, this series is ideal for electromagnetic heating equipment such as kitchen stoves, inverter microwave ovens, rice cookers, and other household appliances. In 2kW applications, STPOWER IH2 series IGBTs can reduce power by 11%.
Due to VCE(sat) having a positive temperature coefficient effect, the tight parameter distribution between devices helps simplify the design and easily connect multiple IGBT transistors in parallel to meet the needs of high-power applications.
In order to meet environmental requirements, ST offers these devices in different grades of ECOPACK packages. It has 25V STGWA25IH135DF2 and 35A STGWA35IH135DF2 that both in a TO-247 long leads package.
