STM32H5 is the first MCU series on the market that can access series chip security services through industry standard API. This also means that developers do not need to write security code themselves, simplifying application development while ensuring effective protection.

Ricardo De Sa Earp, Executive Vice President of the General Microcontrollers Sub-Business Unit of the STMicroelectronics Microcontrollers and Digital IC Products Division, said: "Our IoT community is ready to use the enhanced features of the STM32H5 series to support advanced services while protecting Users, assets, and data security. We expect the new series of MCUs to be the controller of choice to make future smart homes, factories, and cities smart, safe, and green."

The STM32H5 MCU utilizes STMicroelectronics' advanced 40nm CMOS process and improved on-chip power conversion circuitry to improve energy efficiency and solve the problem of increased power dissipation that accompanies increased computing performance. With devices operating at frequencies up to 250MHz in harsh environments with ambient temperatures reaching 125°C, dissipated power is no longer a design limiting factor. In addition, the STM32H5 MCU complies with the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) standard and is suitable for devices with strict SIL requirements. The native hardware functions of the chip are aimed at various industrial and medical applications.

The STM32Trust TEE Secure Manager used in the new MCU is developed by ProvenRun and runs on the ProvenCore-M platform, providing today's top security. The provided SoC security services include software isolation, encryption, key storage and initial authentication. To help users exploit the full potential of this tool, STMicroelectronics has developed dedicated development kits NUCLEO-H503RB, NUCLEO-H563ZI and STM32H573I-DK, which provide usage examples explaining how to use the security service and include all required software tools and support Both are integrated into the STM32Cube development ecosystem.

The new offerings also offer ST in-factory pre-configured credentials for seamless login to various cloud and OEM servers, multi-user IP protection and pre-integrated third-party public key infrastructure (PKI) lifecycle remote management software.

With improved power conversion circuitry, STM32H5 MCUs increase the dynamic efficiency of switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) to 61µA/MHz, and in run mode, powered by linear (LDO) converters (at VDD = 3.3V and 25°C), Dynamic power efficiency is 120µA/MHz when peripherals are off. Like other STM32 MCUs, ST's advanced peripherals are designed for maximum energy efficiency, while precise power management techniques allow developers to optimize performance and power consumption in various operating modes.
